The Art Deco style is generally defined as occuring within the period from 1920 to 1935.

Art Deco jewelry is defined by geometric forms & bold colors which reflect the influence of the cubist movement as well as the dramatic social changes of the time. Diamonds were extremely popular & were often accompanied by the bright colors of rubies, sapphires & emeralds. The use of black onyx in contrast with white diamonds & rock crystal is a defining style of the period. The Art Deco (1920 to 1935), influence extends all the way through the 1950s, 1960s & indeed to the current day.
